Ich bin stolz auf mein Chemnitz. 2025 wird Chemnitz den Titel der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt tragen – ein Ereignis, das nicht nur die Stadt, sondern auch mich verändert hat.
Auf meiner Weltreise bin ich nun nicht nur als Abenteurer auf meiner Vespa, mit meiner lieben Frau unterwegs, sondern irgendwie auch als inoffizieller Botschafter für Chemnitz und seine Rolle als Kulturhauptstadt. Denn Chemnitz ist mehr als nur eine Stadt, die für viele vielleicht noch unbekannt ist – es ist ein Symbol für Transformation, Wiederaufbau und kulturelle Vielfalt.
Chemnitz: Eine Stadt im Wandel
Chemnitz ist eine Stadt, die auf den ersten Blick nicht die Schlagzeilen beherrscht. Doch genau hier liegt der Reiz. Als Industriestadt im Herzen Sachsens erlebte Chemnitz nach der Wende eine wirtschaftliche und kulturelle Neuausrichtung. Die Stadt, die einst durch Maschinenbau und Textilindustrie geprägt war, entwickelte sich zu einem Ort, an dem Kunst, Kultur und Kreativität einen immer größeren Raum einnehmen.
Der Gewinn des Titels der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt 2025 markiert den Höhepunkt dieser Entwicklung. Chemnitz wird damit offiziell als ein Zentrum der europäischen Kultur anerkannt – eine Anerkennung, die nicht nur für die Stadt selbst, sondern für ganz Europa eine besondere Bedeutung hat. Chemnitz zeigt, dass auch Städte abseits der Metropolen eine kulturelle Strahlkraft entwickeln können.
Kultur für alle – ein zentrales Motto
Ein zentrales Thema von Chemnitz2025 ist „C the Unseen“, das bedeutet, das Unsichtbare sichtbar zu machen. Dieses Motto spiegelt das wider, was Chemnitz so besonders macht: Es sind die verborgenen Schätze, die versteckten Geschichten und die weniger bekannten kulturellen Facetten, die es zu entdecken gilt.
Chemnitz2025 wird ein Jahr der kulturellen Offenbarungen sein. Veranstaltungen, Projekte und künstlerische Initiativen werden das ganze Jahr über stattfinden und die Vielfalt der europäischen Kultur in all ihren Formen zeigen. Es geht darum, Grenzen zu überwinden, Barrieren abzubauen und die Menschen zusammenzubringen – unabhängig von Herkunft, Alter oder sozialem Status.
Meine Mission: Chemnitz bekannt machen
Auf meiner Weltreise treffe ich Menschen aus aller Welt – und ich erzähle ihnen von Chemnitz. Ich spreche von den beeindruckenden Kunstprojekten, den kreativen Köpfen, die hier arbeiten, und den spannenden Veranstaltungen, die geplant sind. Für viele meiner Gesprächspartner ist Chemnitz eine Überraschung, ein Ort, von dem sie noch nie gehört haben. Doch genau das möchte ich ändern.
Ich möchte das Bewusstsein für Chemnitz und seine kulturelle Bedeutung in Europa stärken. Denn als Europäische Kulturhauptstadt 2025 hat Chemnitz die Chance, über die Stadtgrenzen hinaus zu leuchten und ein Symbol für den kulturellen Reichtum und die Vielfalt unseres Kontinents zu werden.
Ein Blick in die Zukunft
Ich sehe mich als Teil einer größeren Bewegung – einer Bewegung, die darauf abzielt, die Schönheit und den Wert der Kultur in unserem Leben zu betonen.
Ich bin überzeugt, dass Chemnitz2025 ein unvergessliches Jahr sein wird, nicht nur für die Stadt selbst, sondern für ganz Europa. Und ich freue mich darauf, weiterhin als Botschafter auf meiner Reise durch die Welt die Geschichte von Chemnitz zu erzählen – der Stadt, die das Unsichtbare sichtbar macht und zeigt, dass Kultur überall zu Hause ist.

On my trip around the world, I am now not only an adventurer on my Vespa with my lovely wife, but somehow also an unofficial ambassador for Chemnitz and its role as European Capital of Culture. Because Chemnitz is more than just a city that is perhaps still unknown to many – it is a symbol of transformation, reconstruction and cultural diversity.
Chemnitz: a city in transition
Chemnitz is a city that doesn’t make the headlines at first glance. But this is precisely where its appeal lies. As an industrial city in the heart of Saxony, Chemnitz experienced an economic and cultural reorientation after reunification. The city, which was once characterized by mechanical engineering and the textile industry, developed into a place where art, culture and creativity are becoming increasingly important.
Winning the title of European Capital of Culture 2025 marks the culmination of this development. Chemnitz is thus officially recognized as a center of European culture – a recognition that has special significance not only for the city itself, but for Europe as a whole. Chemnitz shows that even cities outside the metropolitan areas can develop a cultural appeal.
Culture for all – a central motto
A central theme of Chemnitz2025 is “C the Unseen”, which means making the invisible visible. This motto reflects what makes Chemnitz so special: it is the hidden treasures, the hidden stories and the lesser-known cultural facets that need to be discovered.
Chemnitz2025 will be a year of cultural revelations. Events, projects and artistic initiatives will take place throughout the year and showcase the diversity of European culture in all its forms. The aim is to overcome borders, break down barriers and bring people together – regardless of origin, age or social status.
My mission: to make Chemnitz known
On my world tour, I meet people from all over the world – and I tell them about Chemnitz. I talk about the impressive art projects, the creative minds who work here and the exciting events that are planned. For many of the people I talk to, Chemnitz is a surprise, a place they have never heard of. But that’s exactly what I want to change.
I want to raise awareness of Chemnitz and its cultural significance in Europe. Because as European Capital of Culture 2025, Chemnitz has the chance to shine beyond the city limits and become a symbol of the cultural richness and diversity of our continent.
A look into the future
I see myself as part of a larger movement – a movement that aims to emphasize the beauty and value of culture in our lives.
I am convinced that Chemnitz2025 will be an unforgettable year, not only for the city itself, but for Europe as a whole. And I look forward to continuing to tell the story of Chemnitz as an ambassador on my journey around the world – the city that makes the invisible visible and shows that culture is at home everywhere.
